According to the resolution of the World Health Organization and the United Nations General Assembly of 1988, World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1. In honor of this date, a round table was held jointly with the Directorate of Protection of Jizzakh region and the regional Health Department. During the event, the participants received explanations about this disease: its history and preventive measures.
Special attention was paid at the meeting to up-to-date statistical data on the region, methods of early diagnosis and modern approaches to therapy. Experts stressed the importance of informing the public about the ways of HIV transmission and the need for regular testing. Separate sessions were devoted to overcoming the stigmatization of people living with HIV and the formation of a tolerant attitude in society.
